Yeah, but who cares about links without substance? Anyone can post a link to a show. But why? These pages are brimming with links. Why not just put them all up and be done with it.

The difference is this:

If someone wants to be pointed to, say, a nice Spring 1970 acoustic set--we'll get some interesting and pertainent replies. Context. If SDH chimes in a merry morning with a 1979 show, I know he's just actually listened to it and wants to share the joy. Others are investigating songs or years--and they are sharing something of their journeys. But there comes a point at which posting links becomes absurd.

Now, I could just post that--nothing else. So? But I would post it with the comment that the Academy run is so overlooked because 1)most of the tapes are Marty's really bad auds and 2)they are followed by the great European tour.
For all that, this run is chock full of gems. LLR with pedal steel. Fabulous Playing that shows the song finally emerging from the tentative jam of the Fall '71 to the roaring beast of 72. Several breakout tunes--besides LLR, we have BTW, several Pig masterpieces, and a Greatest Story that is reborn from the short version of the year before.

The theater--renamed the Palladium a few years later--is one of the last of the great movies houses cum rock palaces; this show is the opening night of a great New York City stand, and the audience was drooling with anticipation. The boys delivered.

You know--something? A review? A reason why?

Do people really post shows that they haven't listened to? Every show I have put up a post for I have listened to and believed worthy of listening. It's all so subjective any way. You may like Lovelight and I may find it too long. I may like Terrapin and you may find it too long.
I guess we approach our show listening in different ways. If someone puts up a link for an '87 show but I'm really wanting to hear a '73 show, it doesn't matter what they say about that show. I'm still looking for that hot '73 show. I prefer to go into shows from the start and with no preconceived notions about what any song will do and form my own opinion. Nothing more nothing less.
I've stumbled into more grate shows by accident then I have been led to.

There are one or more who do post unheard links, why??? I don't know.

And thank you, this is more like it! We all believe in what we believe in, I'm not going to try to change your mind...
